Since you have recommended this book I will try to lay ancieht hands on this asap. Do I have to purchase it? It is about why we love and lose, sometimes seeming to have little control over our destinies. Ancient Promises is a journey into the mind of Janu through her teenage and years after an arranged marriage that goes terribly wrong. First of all, this book contains very hardcore kerala culture and language.

That sounds like a good book. The book has a lukewarm opening about a young girl in love being forced to marry against her wishes. With her lucid and playful language, Misra creates a sea of emotions and the reader ancientt easily establish personal harmonies with her characters and events.

Thank you for sharing the requirements with us. A page-turner, this first book by Jaishree Mishra kept me hooked for a week of my commute time. There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Deciding to miera matters into her hands, she applies to study abroad leaves for Delhi to give a scholarship interview. So honest and frighteningly real. Ancient Promises is the story of Janaki Janu a strong willed but, dutiful woman who dare to challenge the set norms to promisex the true happiness in a rightful manner.

Janu’s Pre marriage life resembles the one in the serial. She gets married to Suresh from the socially ancuent Maraar family on her 18th promizes. This is a fine piece of autobiographic literature that you can’t stop reading until the end.

And as if by magic, Suresh reconciles himself to a divorce, hands over Riya and alls well that ends well. The thing about this book is that it’s painful for most part but with a promise that it definitely gets better in the end. However what is an award for, if the writing is powerful enough to find a dear place in the reader’s heart for a long time?

Two-thumbs up to Jaishree Misra! I tried hard to keep going during the first half of the book. A wonderful narration of her promisss, albeit slightly repetitive.

I picked this book up solely because it had been lying in my shelf for about 8 years and I needed to take a break from the usual genre I read which is Mythology.
